Online Teaching Ideas:  Storybird

Since I commented on Sporcle.com in the obligatory Teaching Idea Comment Task, I will use storybird.com for my next online teaching idea.
storybird.com is a website where one can create a story. Images (artwork) are made available according to theme and then the order of the images is up to the writer of the story.  So, one is limited as to the available art, although one could download their own art, if aproved.
For a teacher, storybird seems very easy to use. I'd like to try it out with a class to see if there are any kinks in the services offered.  For teachers, signing up is very easy, free and from what I can tell so far, it is very simple to add classes and students and assignments.
While creating our own stories in class, I remember having a few difficulties getting exactly what I wanted form way of design and then placement of elements on that design.  But I am sure that with a little more practice, I can find out the trouble areas so that my students will have an easier time with this program. The selection of art to create the stories is fantastic and the possibilites for students to imaginitively use their English skills is very rewarding for both student and teacher.
